ترجمہ:
اور جب ہم نے تم سے مضبوط عہد لیا اور تمہارے اوپر طور پہاڑ کو بلند کیا کہ جو کتاب ہم نے تمہیں دی ہے اسے مضبوطی سے تھامو اور اس کی باتیں سنو۔
انہوں نے کہا:
“ہم نے سن لیا۔”
لیکن دل سے کہا:
“ہم نے نافرمانی کی۔”
اور ان کے کفر کی وجہ سے ان کے دلوں میں بچھڑے کی محبت رچا دی گئی۔
اے نبی ﷺ فرما دیجئے:
تمہارا ایمان اگر یہی حکم دیتا ہے تو بہت ہی برا حکم دیتا ہے، اگر واقعی تم ایمان والے ہو۔

Translation:
And remember when We took your covenant and raised Mount Tur above you, saying:
“Hold firmly to what We have given you and listen.”
They said,
“We hear.”
But in reality they disobeyed.
Because of their disbelief, the love of the calf was deeply rooted in their hearts.
Say, O Prophet,
“How evil is that which your faith commands you, if you are truly believers.”

جب بنی اسرائیل مصر سے نکل کر وادیِ تیہ (جسے آج وادی سینا کہا جاتا ہے) میں پہنچے تو انہوں نے حضرت موسیٰ علیہ السلام سے درخواست کی کہ ان کے لیے ایک مکمل قانون اور ضابطۂ حیات ہونا چاہیے تاکہ وہ ایک آزاد قوم کی حیثیت سے زندگی گزار سکیں۔
اللہ تعالیٰ نے ان پر تورات نازل فرمائی اور حکم دیا کہ اسے مضبوطی سے تھامیں اور اس کے تمام احکام پر عمل کریں۔
لیکن بنی اسرائیل نے کہا کہ تورات کے احکام بہت سخت ہیں اور ہم ان پر عمل نہیں کر سکتے۔
اس وقت اللہ تعالیٰ نے ان پر ڈرانے کے لیے طور پہاڑ کو بلند کر دیا تاکہ وہ اپنے وعدے پر قائم رہیں۔
ظاہری طور پر انہوں نے کہا:
“ہم نے سن لیا”
لیکن حقیقت میں ان کا عمل یہ تھا:
“ہم نے نافرمانی کی۔”
اسی مسلسل نافرمانی اور کفر کی وجہ سے ان کے دلوں میں بچھڑے کی محبت راسخ ہوگئی۔
پھر اللہ تعالیٰ نے نبی کریم ﷺ کو حکم دیا کہ ان سے کہہ دیں کہ اگر تمہارا ایمان تمہیں وعدہ توڑنے، اللہ کے احکام کی نافرمانی کرنے اور بچھڑے کی عبادت کرنے کا حکم دیتا ہے تو ایسا ایمان بہت برا ہے۔
