Surah Baqarah Ayah 91-92 Translation in English
When they are told, “Believe in what Allah has revealed,” they say, “We believe only in what was revealed to us.” Yet they reject what came after it, although it is the truth confirming what is already with them.
Say, “If you truly believed in the Torah, then why did you kill the Prophets of Allah before?”
Indeed, Musa (Moses, peace be upon him) came to you with clear signs, yet after him you worshipped the calf while you were wrongdoers.

اور جب ان سے کہا جاتا ہے کہ اس چیز پر ایمان لاؤ جو اللہ نے نازل فرمائی ہے تو وہ کہتے ہیں کہ ہم صرف اسی پر ایمان لاتے ہیں جو ہم پر نازل ہوئی۔ حالانکہ وہ اس کتاب کا انکار کرتے ہیں جو اس کے بعد آئی، جبکہ وہ حق ہے اور ان کی کتاب کی تصدیق کرنے والی ہے۔
آپ ﷺ فرما دیجیے کہ اگر تم واقعی تورات پر ایمان رکھتے تھے تو پھر اس سے پہلے اللہ کے نبیوں کو کیوں قتل کرتے رہے؟
اور بے شک حضرت موسیٰ علیہ السلام تمہارے پاس واضح نشانیاں لے کر آئے، پھر ان کے بعد تم نے بچھڑے کو معبود بنا لیا، اور تم ظالم تھے۔

Why Did the Children of Israel Reject the Quran?
Surah Baqarah Ayah 91-92 explains that many among the Children of Israel already knew from the Torah that the final Messenger, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, would come. They recognized the signs, yet refused to accept the Quran because of pride, jealousy, and attachment to worldly status.
Allah declares that the Quran is the absolute truth and confirms the original teachings of the Torah. Therefore, rejecting the Quran was not based on evidence but on stubbornness.
Their Claim of Following the Torah
In Surah Baqarah Ayah 91-92, Allah exposes their false claim. They said they believed only in the Torah, but if they truly followed it, they would have accepted the final Prophet ﷺ because the Torah gave glad tidings of his arrival.
Allah also reminds them that many of their forefathers killed the Prophets, despite the commands found in the Torah. This showed that their claim of obedience was not sincere.
Worshipping the Golden Calf
Another important lesson in Surah Baqarah Ayah 91-92 is the story of the golden calf.
Allah blessed the Children of Israel with many miracles:
- The sea was parted for them.
- Pharaoh drowned before their eyes.
- Clouds provided shade.
- Manna and quails were sent as food.
Despite these blessings, when Prophet Musa (AS) went to Mount Sinai, many of them began worshipping the golden calf. This was a major act of shirk because worship belongs to Allah alone.

سورۃ البقرہ آیات 91-92 میں اللہ تعالیٰ یہودیوں کی ایک بڑی غلطی بیان فرماتے ہیں۔ وہ جانتے تھے کہ آخری نبی حضرت محمد ﷺ تشریف لائیں گے، کیونکہ تورات میں ان کی نشانیاں موجود تھیں، لیکن جب قرآن نازل ہوا تو انہوں نے تکبر، حسد اور دنیاوی مفادات کی وجہ سے اس کا انکار کر دیا۔
اللہ تعالیٰ واضح فرماتے ہیں کہ قرآن مجید حق ہے اور تورات کی تصدیق کرنے والا ہے۔ اگر وہ واقعی تورات پر ایمان رکھتے تو انہیں قرآن اور رسول اللہ ﷺ پر بھی ایمان لانا چاہیے تھا۔
پھر اللہ تعالیٰ انہیں ان کے آباؤ اجداد کے اعمال یاد دلاتے ہیں کہ انہوں نے کئی انبیائے کرام علیہم السلام کو قتل کیا، حالانکہ تورات انہیں اس سے منع کرتی تھی۔ اس سے معلوم ہوتا ہے کہ ان کا دعویٰ سچا نہیں تھا۔
اسی طرح حضرت موسیٰ علیہ السلام بے شمار معجزات لے کر آئے، جیسے سمندر کا راستہ بن جانا، فرعون کا غرق ہونا، بادلوں کا سایہ، اور آسمان سے رزق نازل ہونا۔ اس کے باوجود انہوں نے بچھڑے کی عبادت شروع کر دی، جو کھلا شرک اور ظلم تھا کیونکہ عبادت صرف اللہ تعالیٰ کا حق ہے۔
Lessons from Surah Baqarah Ayah 91-92
- ہمیشہ حق کو قبول کرنا چاہیے، چاہے وہ ہماری خواہشات کے خلاف ہی کیوں نہ ہو۔
- حسد اور تکبر انسان کو ہدایت سے محروم کر دیتے ہیں۔
- اللہ کی تمام نازل کردہ کتابوں پر ایمان لانا ضروری ہے۔
- عبادت صرف اللہ تعالیٰ کا حق ہے۔
- انبیائے کرام علیہم السلام کی اطاعت ایمان کا حصہ ہے۔
- Surah Baqarah Ayah 91-92 ہمیں سکھاتی ہے کہ صرف دعویٰ کافی نہیں بلکہ عملی اطاعت بھی ضروری ہے۔
