وَإِذَا لَقُوا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا قَالُوا آمَنَّا ۖ وَإِذَا خَلَا بَعْضُهُمْ إِلَىٰ بَعْضٍ قَالُوا أَتُحَدِّثُونَهُم بِمَا فَتَحَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمْ لِيُحَاجُّوكُم بِهِ عِندَ رَبِّكُمْ ۚ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ ٧٦ أَوَلَا يَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ اللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا يُسِرُّونَ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ ٧٧
Urdu Translation
اور جب وہ ایمان والوں سے ملتے ہیں تو کہتے ہیں کہ ہم ایمان لے آئے، لیکن جب آپس میں اکیلے ہوتے ہیں تو کہتے ہیں: کیا تم مسلمانوں کو وہ باتیں بتاتے ہو جو اللہ نے تم پر ظاہر کی ہیں تاکہ وہ انہی باتوں سے قیامت کے دن تمہارے خلاف اللہ کے سامنے حجت قائم کریں؟ کیا تم عقل سے کام نہیں لیتے؟
کیا وہ نہیں جانتے کہ اللہ تعالیٰ ان تمام باتوں کو جانتا ہے جو وہ چھپاتے ہیں اور جو ظاہر کرتے ہیں؟
English Translation
When they meet the believers, they say, “We believe.” But when they are alone with one another, they say, “Why do you tell them what Allah has revealed to you, so they may use it as an argument against you before your Lord? Do you not understand?”
Do they not know that Allah knows what they conceal and what they reveal?
Surah Baqarah Ayat 76-77 Tafseer in Urdu
ان آیات میں اللہ تعالیٰ یہودیوں کے ایک رویے کو بیان فرماتے ہیں۔ جب وہ مسلمانوں سے ملتے تو ظاہری طور پر ایمان کا اظہار کرتے، لیکن اپنے سرداروں کے پاس جا کر ایک دوسرے کو ملامت کرتے کہ تم مسلمانوں کو کیوں بتاتے ہو کہ تورات میں حضرت محمد ﷺ کی نبوت اور اسلام کی حقانیت کا ذکر موجود ہے۔
حضرت عبداللہ بن سلامؓ، جو یہودیوں کے بڑے عالم تھے، اسلام قبول کرنے کے بعد فرمایا کرتے تھے کہ یہودی رسول اللہ ﷺ کو اسی طرح پہچانتے تھے جیسے اپنے بیٹوں کو پہچانتے ہیں، مگر حسد، ضد اور عناد کی وجہ سے ایمان نہیں لاتے تھے۔
اللہ تعالیٰ فرماتے ہیں کہ وہ چاہے اپنی باتیں چھپائیں یا ظاہر کریں، اللہ تعالیٰ ہر چیز سے باخبر ہے۔ ان کے دلوں کے راز بھی اللہ کے علم میں ہیں اور ان کے اعمال بھی۔

Miracle of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
علامہ جلال الدین سیوطی رحمہ اللہ نے خصائص الکبریٰ میں ایک مشہور معجزہ نقل فرمایا ہے۔
ایک مرتبہ ابو جہل اپنی مٹھی میں چند کنکریاں لے کر رسول اللہ ﷺ کی خدمت میں آیا اور کہا کہ اگر آپ بتا دیں کہ میری مٹھی میں کیا ہے تو میں ایمان لے آؤں گا۔
رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا:
“اگر یہ کنکریاں خود بتا دیں تو کیا تم ایمان لے آؤ گے؟”
ابو جہل نے کہا: ہاں۔
اللہ تعالیٰ کے حکم سے وہ کنکریاں کلمہ پڑھنے لگیں۔ مگر ابو جہل نے ضد کی وجہ سے ایمان قبول کرنے کے بجائے کنکریاں پھینک دیں اور کہنے لگا کہ یہ بھی محمد ﷺ کے ساتھی بن گئے ہیں۔
یہ واقعہ اس بات کی واضح دلیل ہے کہ جب انسان ضد اور تکبر میں مبتلا ہو جائے تو بڑے سے بڑا معجزہ بھی اسے ہدایت نہیں دے سکتا۔

These verses describe the attitude of some Jews during the time of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. When they met the believers, they pretended to have faith. However, among themselves they criticized one another for revealing what was mentioned in the Torah regarding the truthfulness of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
