A snake bit a hen, and feeling the poison spreading through her body, she returned to her chicken coop for safety. But instead of helping her, the other hens pushed her away because they feared the poison might spread among them.
The injured hen cried in pain, not only because of the snake bite but because her own companions abandoned and humiliated her when she needed them the most.
Weak and helpless, she walked away dragging one leg, suffering through cold nights and burning fever. Every step carried pain and loneliness.
The hens watched her disappear into the horizon and said:
“Let her go… she will die far away from us.”
With time, everyone believed she was dead.
News From the Cave
After a long time, a bird arrived with surprising news:
“Your sister is alive. She lives inside a cave far from here.”
The bird explained that she survived, but the snake bite caused her to lose one leg. She struggled daily to find food and desperately needed help.
For a moment, silence filled the coop.
Then excuses began:
“I am busy laying eggs.”
“I am searching for corn.”
“I must take care of my chicks.”
One by one, every hen refused to help. The bird returned alone.
The Pain of True Regret
Much later, the bird returned again with heartbreaking news:
“Your sister has died… alone in the cave.”
No one was there to comfort her, bury her, or mourn for her.
Suddenly, deep sorrow spread throughout the coop.

“In life, many people will not take a single step to help you while you are alive, but after your death they will cross the world to bury you. Most tears at funerals are not from pain, but from regret.”

سچا پچھتاوا – دوسروں کی مدد کا سبق
تعارف
سچا پچھتاوا ہمیں یہ سکھاتا ہے کہ اکثر لوگ مشکل وقت میں ساتھ نہیں دیتے، لیکن بعد میں افسوس کے آنسو بہاتے رہ جاتے ہیں۔ یہ کہانی ہمیں یاد دلاتی ہے کہ اپنے پیاروں کی مدد اُس وقت کریں جب انہیں ہماری سب سے زیادہ ضرورت ہو۔
زخمی مرغی کی کہانی
ایک سانپ نے مرغی کو کاٹ لیا۔ اپنے جسم میں زہر محسوس کرتے ہوئے وہ مرغی خانے میں پناہ لینے پہنچی، لیکن دوسری مرغیوں نے اُسے دھکے دے کر نکال دیا تاکہ زہر اُن تک نہ پہنچے۔
مرغی درد سے روتی رہی۔ اُسے سانپ کے کاٹنے سے زیادہ اپنے اپنوں کی بے حسی نے تکلیف دی۔
وہ لنگڑاتی ہوئی سرد راتوں اور تیز بخار میں دور نکل گئی۔ ہر قدم کے ساتھ اُس کی آنکھ سے آنسو گرتا رہا۔
مرغیاں اُسے جاتے ہوئے دیکھتی رہیں اور کہنے لگیں:
“جانے دو… یہ ہم سے دور ہی مر جائے گی۔”
غار سے آنے والی خبر
کافی عرصے بعد ایک پنچھی آیا اور بولا:
“تمہاری بہن زندہ ہے، وہ ایک غار میں رہتی ہے۔”
اس نے بتایا کہ وہ تو بچ گئی، لیکن اُس کی ایک ٹانگ ختم ہو چکی ہے اور اُسے کھانا ڈھونڈنے میں مشکل پیش آتی ہے۔
پھر بہانے شروع ہو گئے:
“میں انڈے دے رہی ہوں۔”
“میں مکئی تلاش کر رہا ہوں۔”
“مجھے اپنے چوزوں کی دیکھ بھال کرنی ہے۔”
یوں سب نے مدد سے انکار کر دیا۔
سچے پچھتاوے کا درد
کچھ وقت بعد وہی پنچھی دوبارہ آیا، لیکن اس بار خبر بہت دردناک تھی:
“تمہاری بہن مر گئی… وہ غار میں اکیلی مر گئی۔”
یہ سن کر سب پر خاموشی اور غم چھا گیا۔
سب ایک دوسرے سے پوچھنے لگے:
“ہم پہلے کیوں نہ گئے؟”
جب سب روتے ہوئے غار پہنچے تو وہاں صرف ایک خط پڑا تھا جس پر لکھا تھا:
“زندگی میں اکثر لوگ زندہ انسان کی مدد نہیں کرتے، لیکن مرنے کے بعد اُسے دفنانے ضرور آ جاتے ہیں۔ جنازوں کے اکثر آنسو درد کے نہیں بلکہ پچھتاوے کے ہوتے ہیں۔”
کہانی کا سبق
مشکل وقت میں اپنوں کا ساتھ دیں۔
مدد کرنے میں دیر نہ کریں۔
بعد کا پچھتاوا کبھی فائدہ نہیں دیتا۔
